OUR HISTORY

The Old Farm

The main house, an old farmhouse dating from 1650, has a fascinating history: around 1680 it was a customs post where taxes were paid for the transit of herds. It was located along a road that connected Lake Bolsena, an Etruscan center, to Mount Amiata, a sacred mountain. This place, located on a hill with a view of the valley, was highly coveted because of its fertile volcanic soil and a well that provided clean water.

Restoring the property and bringing it back to its former glory has been a very satisfying challenge. The olive and chestnut groves, once overgrown, have come back to life, and the garden overflows with fruits, vegetables and herbs that we use in the kitchen. The renovation of the buildings, made with natural materials and reusing pre-existing ones, has preserved the authentic atmosphere of the past.
